Diagram shortlisting Torriden DIVE IN for a light hydration layer and COSRX Snail 96 for a film-forming essence.

I would start with Torriden DIVE IN if I wanted a light hydration layer underneath moisturiser and sunscreen. I would start with COSRX Snail 96 if dry-feeling skin left me wanting a more noticeable, film-forming essence. The useful difference is the kind of layer you want, rather than which ingredient has the bigger number.

Torriden and COSRX are Korean skincare brands. This comparison concerns DIVE IN Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Serum, a 50ml serum, and Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, a 100ml essence. The recommendations below come from their published formulas and texture descriptions, rather than my own wear test.

Torriden: my first option for light layering

DIVE IN combines glycerin with several forms of hyaluronic acid. These are humectants: they help the outer skin hold water, which can make dehydrated-feeling skin less tight and temporarily plumper-looking. Hyaluronic acid is a hydration ingredient, not an exfoliating acid.

Panthenol supports moisturisation and allantoin is used for soothing. The formula therefore has a clear everyday purpose: add water-holding ingredients without turning the serum step into another cream.

Torriden describes a lightweight, fresh finish without heaviness or stickiness. That is why I would put it first for someone who wants extra hydration but dislikes feeling several layers on the face. A morning routine with moisturiser, sunscreen and makeup is a good example of that preference. This is a reason to shortlist it, rather than a promise that it will prevent makeup pilling.

I would also choose it if I wanted to avoid snail-derived skincare or the stretchy texture associated with snail essence. You do not have to dislike snail as an ingredient to prefer a more conventional serum feel.

COSRX: my first option for a film-forming essence

Snail 96 is built around snail secretion filtrate, a mixture used for moisturising and skin conditioning. Its useful appeal is not simply “more hydration ingredient”. It is a different texture: COSRX's snail-range FAQ describes the essence as stretchy or stringy and forming a non-greasy film.

That gives me a concrete reason to consider it when a very light liquid leaves skin feeling like it needs another moisturising layer. I would shortlist Snail 96 for that extra film-like feel beneath an existing cream, particularly in an evening routine where I wanted that texture rather than the lightest possible layering.

Betaine and sodium hyaluronate help hold water; panthenol and allantoin support the moisture-and-comfort direction. The expected cosmetic benefit is more comfortable, hydrated-feeling skin with a smoother-looking surface. I would not choose it to treat acne scars or active acne.

COSRX specifies 96.3% snail secretion filtrate. That tells you the formula is led by the filtrate; it does not mean 96.3% of one purified active or establish that it hydrates better than Torriden. The percentage explains the product's identity. The film-forming texture explains why I might prefer it.

Which fits the problem you actually have?

What you want My first choice Why
Extra hydration with a light-feeling layer Torriden DIVE IN Its humectant formula and brand-described fresh finish match that brief.
An essence that leaves a more noticeable moisturising film COSRX Snail 96 The brand's stretchy, film-forming texture description gives it a distinct role.
A hydration step without snail-derived material Torriden DIVE IN Snail secretion filtrate is animal-derived.
A replacement for an inadequate moisturiser Reconsider the moisturiser first These are supporting hydration layers, not equivalent to a cream.

Both fit before moisturiser. If your face stays tight despite a serum, a richer or better-suited moisturiser is a more direct change than expecting another liquid to do the whole job. Our Snail 96 versus Snail 92 guide explains that essence–cream distinction.

My pick is Torriden for a light extra hydration layer, and COSRX for the distinctive moisturising film of a snail essence. That is a useful choice between textures and routine needs. Buying both is not the necessary next step.
