I would start with Atobarrier365 Cream when dry cheeks leave me wanting a cream-format moisturiser, and with the Lotion when I want a lighter layer across the face before sunscreen. Aestura gives them different textures for the same basic job: keeping skin moisturised. The Lotion is a complete moisturiser, not a step you must finish with the Cream.

If you are comparing across brands, the Korean skincare alternatives guide also looks at Aestura alongside Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin and explains which swaps occupy the same routine step.

Aestura is a Korean skincare brand within Amorepacific, and Atobarrier365 is its range aimed at dry and sensitive skin. If you've arrived here wondering whether the Cream is the “proper” barrier product and the Lotion a compromise, I wouldn't read the range that way. They offer two ways to do the moisturising job.

If your moisturiser is stinging, start with the barrier-care troubleshooting guide before adding another layer.

This is a comparison of the published formulas and directions, not my own wear test.

The capsules explain more than the names

According to Aestura's Cream information, the little particles soften during application. Its FAQ also suggests gently rolling them on the back of your hand before applying if you prefer to melt them first. They're part of the cream's delivery format, rather than exfoliating beads to scrub into your face.

Ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids are lipids found in the outer skin's moisture barrier. In a moisturiser, the aim is to help that layer retain water, so skin feels less dry and tight. Glycerin draws in water; squalane softens dry-feeling skin. This is why the cream-versus-lotion choice is more useful than treating the word ‘ceramide’ as a guarantee: you are choosing a whole moisturising texture, not buying a replacement skin barrier in a jar.

The Lotion information describes a lightweight moisturiser with melted lipid capsules. Its directions suggest one or two pumps, spread evenly. You aren't losing the entire capsule idea simply because there are no obvious particles to work into your skin.

That makes a more useful comparison than “cream for winter, lotion for summer”. Texture preference can matter throughout the year, especially when sunscreen or makeup is going over the moisturiser.

Different formulas, not a strength ladder

Both formulas combine water-attracting and skin-softening ingredients with barrier lipids. For everyday choosing, the difference worth acting on is the lighter Lotion versus the melting-capsule Cream. Their overlapping ceramide-and-lipid idea does not make the Lotion an incomplete moisturiser.

How to choose without buying both

If a moisturiser is comfortable and leaves your skin adequately moisturised, the existence of a second format doesn't create a missing step. Aestura's Lotion FAQ explicitly allows using it on its own after cleansing.

For a lighter morning layer, the Lotion would be my first candidate. For a cream step focused on dry areas, or a routine where I prefer a cream at night, the Cream would be my first candidate. That is a choice based on the published formats; whether either lasts comfortably through your day is something to judge in use.

Pay attention to whether your current moisturiser actually does its job before adding another. If dry areas still need more moisture, adjust the amount or reconsider the format; automatically layering the entire range makes it harder to work out what helped.

Aestura Atobarrier365 Lotion 150ml at Olive Young Global

The Cream option is Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream 80 ml set (+25 ml toner and three 3 g cleansing-foam sachets). The Lotion link above opens the separate 150 ml lotion.

I would choose the Lotion for a lighter everyday moisturising layer and the Cream for the cream texture I want on dry areas. Both belong at the moisturiser step. Pick the feel that makes that step work, rather than layering them to make the routine look more complete.
